Emerald Infinity Pool, Beachfront Resort
A 42-metre infinity edge where the pool reads as a continuous green plane against the horizon. Honed Sukabumi green stone below the waterline carries the colour; bush hammered coping and steps provide barefoot grip at the transition.
Project detail
The brief called for a pool that would appear to merge with the sea rather than contrast against it. Sukabumi green stone does this without any tinting of the water — the mineral green of the stone reads through the water column, deepening from soft sage at the shallow steps to full emerald at the deep end.
The infinity edge required a machined rebate profile along 42 linear metres. Coping was cut from the same material batch as the tile so the tone runs continuously from the submerged surface across the edge and onto the deck.
Steps, the swim-up bench and the spa shelf were specified bush hammered rather than honed. It is a small change on paper and a significant one in use — wet grip on a barefoot surface that people stand on every day.
