Covered outdoor living terrace finished in Indonesian natural stone
Application

Outdoor Living

Terrace paving, outdoor kitchen surfaces, fireplace cladding, benches and shaded exterior floors.

Terraces, outdoor kitchens and covered exterior rooms.

Outdoor living spaces sit between the technical demands of exterior work and the finish expectations of an interior. They are exposed to weather but touched, sat on and cooked in like a room.

The specification follows that: exterior-grade stone at exterior thickness, but with finishes and detailing closer to interior work — tighter joints, sawn edges, honed surfaces where hands and bare feet make contact.

Specification notes

Surface temperature governs the palette

Barefoot terraces in full sun rule out dark stone. Andesite and sandstone stay usable; black lava does not.

Seal the kitchen surfaces

Any outdoor kitchen counter needs a penetrating sealer against oil and acid. Re-seal annually.

Fireplace and grill surrounds

Andesite and basalt tolerate heat well. Keep limestone and marble away from direct heat sources.
